Political Engagement

The Zavarian Student Association plays an active role in Lebanese student politics, maintaining healthy relationships with student/youth wings of all Lebanese parties and taking part in youth forums and youth empowerment programs and seminars debating different political agendas. The student association also organizes and hosts various gatherings and discussions with different political NGOs and organizations in its enduring effort to shed light on student issues and their role in the advancement of society.

Notable Events
  • On Thursday June 6th, 2019 a meeting took place between the Student wing of the Ramgavar party and the Zavarian Student Association at the Apo Ashdjian youth center.
  • On Saturday May 18th, 2019 his Holiness Catholicos Aram I hosted the Zavarian Student Association on occasion of its 115th anniversary.
  • On Monday April 8th, 2019 members from the Zavarian Student Association met up with the Dekhrouni Student & Youth Association to discuss future plans for cooperation between the two organizations.
  • On Monday April 8th, 2019 the Students & Youth committee for "Youth policy in Lebanon" held a meeting with the minister of Youth & Sports HEM Mohamad Fneish. The Zavarian Student Association also participated in this gathering.
  • On Wednesday March 20th, 2019 the Zavarian Student Association took part in a seminar organized by the National Democratic Institute and the Christian Democratic Party of Norway Krfu entitled "Youth Empowerment in Norwegian and Lebanese politics". Participants had the opportunity to debate political agendas in both Lebanon and Norway and discuss potential future cooperation among youth organizations from both countries.
  • On Thursday February 21st, 2019 the Youth Forum for National Youth Policy held its second general committee meeting in Beirut with the presence and participation of 20 youth & student associations in Lebanon. The Zavarian Student Association also took part in this gathering.
  • ZSA members taking part in the 6th edition of the Lebanon Renaissance Foundation's Youth Leadership Program. Nine organizations, including the Zavarian Student Association, have joined the 6th edition of this initiative held under the timely motto “Politics is an expression of values. Not power”. 23 participants will be attending a 4 months curriculum meant to instill issues that are not properly addressed in the Lebanese political discourse.

Zavarian Student Association of ARF was founded in 1904 in Beirut, Lebanon. Simon Zavarian along with eight Armenian scholars established a student association in the American University of Beirut.
